The KIT COSMOS Processor: Introducing CONDOR
نویسندگان
چکیده
In this paper, we propose a microprocessor architecture which e ciently utilizes nextgeneration semiconductor technology. While the technology makes it possible to integrate a lot of functional units on a single chip, contemporary microprocessors can not exploit much instruction level parallelism so that the units are wasted. Our proposal based on Simultaneous Multi-Threading (SMT) increases the number of bene cial instructions and thus the functional units work e ciently. As well as application programs, a binary code translator which dynamically optimizes the applications on-they is executed on the SMT. We call this mechanism CONcurrent Dynamic OptimizeR (CONDOR). Based on the CONDOR architecture, performance of the applications are improved as well. We are currently studying the KIT COSMOS processor which utilizes CONDOR. This paper describes some ideas behind the architecture and the goal of this study.

We describe FATCOP, a new parallel mixed integer program solver written in PVM. The implementation uses the Condor resource management system to provide a virtual machine composed of otherwise idle computers. The new solver differs from previous parallel branch-and-bound work by implementing a general purpose parallel mixed integer programming algorithm in an opportunistic multiple processor en...

متن کاملA worldwide flock of Condors: Load sharing among workstation clusters
Condor is a distributed batch system for sharing the workload of compute-intensive jobs in a pool of Unix workstations connected by a network. In such a Condor pool, idle machines are spotted by Condor and allocated to queued jobs, thus putting otherwise unutilized capacity to e cient use. When institutions owning Condor pools cooperate, they may wish to exploit the joint capacity of their pool...
